Gail LeBoff "Glacier Girls" at LABspace through January 30th

LABspace is currently exhibiting a solo show of new photographs by Gail LeBoff titled "Glacier Girls" through January 30th. LeBoff travels annually to Iceland where she photographs the exquisite silence of the white glacier landscapes. She also photographs pre-adolescent figure skaters (anonymously) at skating rinks and places them within these glacier environments. The resulting image of young skaters in the exquisite, endangered, vulnerable and silent glaciers speaks volumes to the precarious situation we are handing the next generation of humanity.

The gallery is open during the winter months on Saturdays from noon-6pm and by appointment via labspaceart@gmail.com.

LABspace is very pleased to present two shows of photography by longtime friends and colleagues, Gail LeBoff and DGKrueger. Glacier Girls by LeBoff and Private Collection by Krueger open with a reception for the artists on Saturday, December 12 from noon-2pm and runs through Saturday, January 9.

Gail LeBoff travels annually to Iceland where she photographs the exquisite silence of the white glacier landscapes. For his new photographic series Private Collection, Krueger explores the marriage of private and public as well as the current drive to brand and market culture.  With these photographs Krueger creates wonderfully humorous scenarios whereby his 32-year gay relationship has been busted out of the proverbial art-world closet. The couple’s snapshots are now front and center on museum and gallery walls and at auction at Sotheby's. It is still rare to see images of homosexual relationships at auction or in museums and fine art galleries. Krueger takes matters in his own hands, deftly balancing critique of the art world with unabashed celebration of the personal.

MADE and LABspace at TSA/SATELLITE in MIami, Dec 1-6

MADE and LABspace are excited to join forces to present “+1+1” as part of the Tiger Strikes Asteroid “Artist-Run” project for SATELLITE at the former Ocean Terrace Hotel in Miami Beach during Miami Art WeekDecember 1-6.  “+1+1” is a curatorial experiment in which 6 artists affiliated with MADE and LABspace each invites another artist and those invite one more artist each to participate. The installation includes a total of 18 artists from NYC, Miami, and abroad exhibiting sculpture, painting, works on paper, performances, projected video, all of which together creates a layered and wholly unexpected, exciting, and dynamic installation. The curatorial process is experimental, collaborative, and ultimately founded in artistic trust and openness. Participating “+1+1” artists Black Lake Sky + Lydia Dona + Lisa Beck Janice Caswell + Michelle Weinberg + Sara Stites Heather Cox + Felice Godin + BYO Lab Beth Dary + Marina Font + Amalia Caputo Christy Speakman + Travis LeRoy Southworth + Adam Douglas Thompson Katarina Wong + Cecile Chong + Maia Cruz Palileo In addition, Black Lake Sky will be performing in the ”+1+1” installation on Thursday, December 3 at 2pm and again on Friday, December 4 at 7pm.
