"Come Together" at LABspace

"Come Together" is a community collaborative art project taking place in LABspace as well as at community centers in the area. The gallery is open by appointment and on Saturdays 11-5 with art supplies and lots of table top surface. Those who participate follow an algorithm to make paintings and works on paper. There is a coming together intersection in every painting as part of the algorithm (as well as a lot of room for personal choices.) Those who have already participated have had a great experience. Connecting and chatting while working is encouraged and a part of the together-coming.

Later in the summer we shall announce a pot luck dinner and a silent auction of the work made during the open community studio. 50% of the proceeds will be donated to support children making art this summer in the community centers involved and 50% will go toward the expenses of the gallery in creating this project. The photo above is one of the completed paintings. The individual artists remain anonymous as it is the collective experience that is being explored with this project and work. People from 2-85, some who identify as artists and others who do not have participated thus far.
