SpaceLAB is a labyrinth of unexpected sculptural work, activating the walls, ceiling, and floor of this magnificent space, as well as site-specific installations. On view are artists working in a wide range of materials— wood, fiber, ceramic, metal, cardboard, paper-mache, stone, plexiglass, found objects, and more.

We have been thrilled to showcase this immersive survey of surprising sculptural work that escapes easy categorization, being made in our own backyard. Collar Works is an exceptional resource for artists and art-lovers in the area, and all sales go 100% to the artists.

SpaceLAB is a family-friendly destination, and the wonderful team at Collar Works has ensured that visits are safe for all. Huge thanks to director Elizabeth Dubben and the whole crew.

Enormous appreciation to the artists for their work, time, and energies. This exhibition is a love letter to ALL the artists we’ve met since relocating to the Hudson Valley 4 years ago. Most of whom we’ve connected with via artist, curator, and founder of LABspace, Susan Jennings.

Susan Carr: In My Room Opens Sept 12 & 13th

Susan Carr:

In My Room
Opens Sat & Sun

Sept 12 & 13th

1-5pm

Please join us for the event we’ve been waiting for all year— Susan Carr’s 2nd solo exhibition at LABspace, In My Room.

Susan began painting for this show the day she returned home from delivering her previous solo to us, 18 months ago. In My Room was meant to open a year later, April 2020.

While initially heartbreaking, the eventual 6-month delay (due to Covid) ultimately allowed Susan to continue working each day toward this exhibit. The result is a breathtaking collection of nearly 100 paintings, ceramics, painted wood constructions, soft sculptures, and drawings.

We are thrilled to share Susan’s extraordinary work with you, joyously reopening our fall season.

We welcome all visitors safely, with masks and appropriate distancing.

Huge thank you to Susan Carr for your dedication, patience, and this exquisite body of work.

See you all here,
xo Ellen & Julie

Four Ways To Support LABspace ❤️

Amanda Nolan Booker in Space Case, featured on Karlyn Benson’s new blog, Art Valley. Click photo to read the backstory of how Space Case came to be, and to follow the blog.

Hello friends!

It’s been a while! We hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy.

We’ve been hustling to keep LABspace going as a functioning IRL artist-run space... and it’s working!

Thanks to your generous support, we are able to keep our physical space for the foreseeable future, which is a HUGE accomplishment in these uncertain times.

We are blown away by your collective kindness. Dozens of unsolicited artwork donations have flooded in, and we are also selling work at our usual (or a slightly reduced) commission, which helps LABspace AND the artists we love. Many of you have collected work from us during this time and we are so grateful.

We are dreaming up new ways to exhibit artists, and for you to see inspiring artwork safely from home, and safely at LABspace.

Detailed below are 4 ways you can help keep LABspace going. We will continue doing everything we can to support this thriving community that we have all created together.

Sending love to you and yours.

Thank you, friends!
xo Julie & Ellen

3. Throughout this health crisis, I’ve been struggling to find a way to make sense of everything. Fueled by frustration, I began painting all the envelopes that have come to LABspace from all of you over the past two years. My goal is to make and sell 100 envelopes for 50 bucks each. I post new envelopes on myInstagram nearly every day. Painting them has become a therapeutic experience, and continues to help fund the gallery. You can read more about it on Etty Yaniv’s blog, Art Spiel. Her Artists on Coping series has been a balm in these anxious days.

Christina Tenaglia, Untitled, 2020, paint, wood, nails, approx 18 x 7 x .5 inches. Email to claim via LABspace fundraiser. $300

We are so indebted to artists who have donated their work, and to fellow artists and fans who continue to collect. We’d be nowhere without you, and certainly not in our physical space.

Thank you ALL for contributing to the success of this thrilling endeavor that we have loved since artist Susan Jennings founded the gallery in 2014. LABspace has brought so much meaning into our lives, and has connected us with so many of you. We are honored and energized to keep it going, no matter what.

See y’all SOON,
xo Julie & Ellen
